How to Lure A Man Away From His Books.

It is a busy time in our household as the person I hold most dear settles into a full audit of the books for the Christian school. It occupies his time as well as his mind, and eventhough he is home, he is not available. This leaves me with a lot of "me" time on my hands, and you can only make so many cards in a week before you run out of ideas.

But.....last night I was able to use my wiles and woo him away from his desk. How did I do that you might ask?? It all started upstairs in the kitchen. I made a nice stiff drink that drew the comment...."Wow, that's even stronger than your dad used to make!" I think that is a complement. I was sitting on the couch taking in the game on tv. I spoke in the general direction of the office..... "The Blue Jays are playing the Yankees!" ......"It's the bottom of the ninth!" ....."Two outs!" ....."Runner in scoring position!" .... "Now it's a full count!" And all of a sudden there he was, drink in hand! Without any help from laSenza. See ladies....you just have to be able to talk the talk!

The rest of today was lovely, I managed to get to a scrapbooking store and there happened to be a yardsale going on there, where people brought in boxes of things they no longer required and had them for sale in the scraproom.....and Teresa and I only came because we needed ribbon!! $75 later! I got the coolest little organizer for $5, the kind with little pockets all the way around!! I'm so 'cited!! I also got lots of paper, for a steal! I can now encapsulate myself in my studio space with renewed vigor and creativity. Unfortunately it reinforces that I have an impulse problem, I only NEEDed ribbon ....but I DID carefully consider every single item in my basket. Some items were returned to their vendor box and some things I put back in my basket, about 3 times, before I made up my mind....so there might not have been premeditiation but there was careful consideration.... That's just the nature of yardsales.

I must give you some advance notice about the Stamping Ladies USA. My Monday morning stamping ladies are going to Port Huron for the day. Hobby Lobby here we come!!! It promises to be a good time, and I should go and sit down and make a list or something. And you thought I got excited about groceries!!!

Onto the topic of circle journals....they're nothing too sinister and don't require a lot bullying or premeditation. This is a scrapbooking project of a personal kind. The journal part is actually done in a mini album, and circle part is a group of people who want to be involved in the project, who often have some previous cardmaking or scrapbooking experience but it is not absolutely necessary. We could suck in some new unsuspecting victims. Each person chooses a mini album....any kind will do, home made or store bought, keeping in mind that the journal will need to be wrapped and mailed so you won't want anything too bulky. That is probably the only drawback for some people...the cost of mailing....but others will love the project idea so much that they simply won't bat an eye. You make a list of participants and you will send your album to the person below you, and you will receive an album from the person above you....until your receive your own album again. YOU set the theme for your album....favourite flowers, favourite inspirational song, who are you?, etc....and the person who receives your album will make a layout of their own favourite flower, their fave song, or make a layout about themselves. So if MY theme is favourite Christian rock song then when my album comes back to me it will be filled with all of YOUR favourite lyrics....and that would be a very special collection to me! Or I would have an album full of all your favourite flowers, or the greatest thing you every got from IKEA....etc.... It might be fun, or it might not.... think about it....you could even circulate your album among friends in your own geographic area. I think my Monday ladies might be game for something like that. I tried to explain the concept to Ray...but I think I should have started that explanation with Crown Royal too.

Anyway, tonight we are off to the dinner theatre for a date with just the two of us. We are going to see Johnny Cash and June Carter. Ray is a HUGE fan! We've already had previous exposure to dinner theatre...and everytime we hear the song, "After Midnight...." we are transported back to Summerside!!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

OK... circle journal may not be my thing. I can't scrapbook, I so am not good at that stuff. God didn't give me those patiences. :d hehe I would love to see them sometime though. Maybe someday, but really its hard for me to make it just right and I can never get started enough to do it. I hope you have a good night at the dinner theatre and that you have oodles of fun. Mom and I raided Walmart for decorations and it all worked out great, I am planning on blogging it! Have a super day tomorrow! Love Always, Amanda

You sure do a lot of writing. It is almost like a novel. Good thing I love reading. Crafting however was never really my thing. But I'm sure there will be lots of others that just can't wait to start.
Nice to see you blogging. Later, Randall
