Slow never lasts long around here.
That's okay.
Most of the time.
Busy times are still good times. And a holiday is just around the corner. I'm so excited!! I look forward to sitting around drinking coffee with people I haven't seen in a long time. (Well not since last year anyway...why does that feel so long ago!!!) I look forward to that a lot.
I've been making cards again lately...just a couple a week and it's a good rhythm, because it makes you think about other people, and not just about what's in front of YOU.
And more adventures on the horizon. I just love a good adventure.
Good news...we found our little Kodak digital camera! I know that most of you didn't even know it was lost...I just didn't want to have to explain that over three posts like the sweater.
PS - And I tried to post about my new TobyMac CD and that it is really great but the graphic didn't show up. Regardless....my turntable is very happy indeed.

Slow Ride
Yesterday it felt like the tide trickled in. I woke up before the sun, made a coffee and went down into the basement studio to make cards. I came back up long after the first shards of light broke through. I didn't notice. The tickle on my toes was too scrumptious.
Then I read a few chapters in an awesome book I'm reading "Soul Craving" by Joel Warne. Good eats for my soul. ...and the first 150 pages of "Snow Falling on Cedars" by David Guterson. A slow, thorough story...
I made two breakfast pies for the big boys in the house, which were delightfully devoured long after they had gone cold. The soft contented sigh of sleeping in very late.
After reading such a long time, laundry got done, muffins were made, as well as some more cards....because one must take advantage of being on a long gentle roll.
Everyone was happy under this roof yesterday. A refreshingly familiar feeling that still lingers today. I like the ebb and flow of Sabbath rest.

SUD!!
Take a few minutes to read the awesome posts from the LDCSS students and teachers team visiting the SUD Academy in Kenya, during the March Break!! (The link is in the sidebar "I Like This...")
SUD Academy is a twin school in Africa currently being supported by LDCSS students and its supporting community, but mostly the students!!! Really cool. All the students in London wrote letters to the students at the Academy...and the team is playing an ambassador role on this friendship mission. Sud Academy has sent a team to LDCSS before as well.

Sadly...
...there's been very little turnover on the turntable.
I still have Addison Road on there...WOW, Selah, etc...
Switchfoot (Hello Hurricane) has been relegated to the car and it is growing on me. I even have a favourite track now! "Your Love is a Song"...
Some things stay the same and some things change...a son of mine has added an Eagles CD. You know....the one they said they were never going to record.
But there IS one new one. Last Saturday, March 6th, was the LDCSS Spring Fundraising Dinner. The company at my table was really wonderful. Fine dining and great people make for such an enjoyable evening. I couldn't think of a better way to enjoy the fruit of the labour of planning. The musical guests for the evening were 'simplesong'. An 8 member family of singers and musicians. After their performance I purchased a CD and it's been a treat to listen to it while working at home and reliving the fun evening we had together as a school community. The dinner is the fun adventure I've been working on for the past few weeks. Busy times, but very worthwhile, and I've had the pleasure of working with very dedicated, passionate people. It was a real blessing. The kind of adventure where I wondered if I might be out of my element, but I got over being intimidated very quickly and felt encouraged and affirmed that this was the right time and the right place. God equips when He calls. As is often the case, there were lots of other things going on simultaneously: tournaments, planning meetings, dates, drama, dances, projects, working meetings, emergencies, Grace, appointments, work, daily/hourly dinner updates, tournaments, etc... and no time for hobbies.
Now the dust settles. Sort of.... Time to catch up.
There is so much that makes up the steady tide of life. It has ebbs and flows. Sometimes it pounds onto the shore, so loud that you can't hear yourself think. You think everyone else can hear it too but sometimes you're in the storm surge alone. Once in a while, you find someone who will talk honestly with you about their storms. These are precious exchanges. Orchestrated by Grace. Still...the most incredible sound in that roar, is God whispering your name. He remains on His Throne. Peace.
Other days it trickles in slowly. Softly. You stand at the water's edge and it tickles your toes. A welcoming familiar cold, so refreshing, so sweet. Peace.
