Hard Core Halo Fans

Karen asked where all the gents were going this weekend and I thought it prudent to mention it here. Ray is off to Algonquin for the weekend with our neighbour across the street. He is soooo excited and I am glad that he is heading out into the bush for a break. Here is a picture of Ray in Achray which is the southeast corner of Algonquin. He is actually at a lookout point by the Barron Canyon and he and his sister Sharon paddled this route a couple of weeks ago. If anyone is interested I'm sure it wouldn't take much to talk Ray into going again!!

This place has stolen Ray's heart at a time when it was either a motorcycle or a canoe...and he has pointed the canoe North and followed it into the wilderness ever since! He's hard core! I believe that it is not by chance that he paddles on his left and I paddle on my right. Made for each other!!! Ray will face a 2100m portage on this particular trip and that just sounds looooong when you have your head stuck under a canoe or have a 100+lb pack strapped to your back. Have fun boys!!

The rest of the boys are heading off to Halo 3 parties at different friends homes this weekend. Unless you were hibernating under a rock, or spraying around the clock, you would know that Halo 3 was recently unveiled. Some people even preordered it be sure they were among the first to score a copy of the game. It's all the kids have been talking about on the bus...bonding happens under all sorts of conditions.

An update on Bell?! Well, they fixed the junction box and more or less restored service to customers in our vicinity but the pole still has a Pisa quality to it and remains unsecured. I imagine even a small icestorm will send it careening across the parking lot. I called Bell, for an update and they assured me the ticket had been closed. I mentioned that the cables were still hanging about 9 or so feet off the ground and that this was over a well used thoroughfare. The technician snuck in, fixed the junctionbox and snuck out again while we were having coffee....(I wonder what the union would say if they knew he worked through his break!!!) He didn't make human contact and took the caution tape I had strung across the back of the parking lot and tied it to the low hanging cable to alert people that INDEED that is LOW! But by now I fear that I am getting a bad attitude. I was just taught better than that! You don't do half a job and then leave. So I requested that they sent a technician out again tomorrow. I might park my lawn chair by the pole just so I don't miss him. Oh, that is sexist....it might be a her.

So all the lads are away and that would leave Blixie and me home alone together....just the girls! I think I Karen might be clairvoyant....I predict that she is right when she said she sees lots of cardmaking in my future. I did touch my new papers today. Feels nice! I cleaned the house today so that trivial things like that wouldn't clutter up my to do list. I am going to let the machine answer the phone. Now about those left overs....well...they were kind of for supper tonight...and just so I don't have to eat popcorn for 3 days, I made sure Ray got a nice variety of chips. I'm all set....but no cheesies...unless you are scrapping with orange paper. I hope to come here a bit too!! Woohoo! I mean...sniff....I'll be so lonely...

Enjoy your solitude, make lots of cards ( it is my birthday soon - so in case you need a reason to make a card- hint-hint)
And tell Ray he is a good example to all of us at his age to be doing all this activity.
Anyway, enjoy!
(The problem with solitude :it's always over too fast)

I'm glad Ray chose the canoe over the motorcycle. Yikes -- I hate those things. I'm glad he's having fun. The boys too. I must be old. I have no idea what Halo 3 is. My apologies -- let me get this rock off my head.
Scrap happy (and don't eat just chips -- add chocolate)!
Love, Karen
