No Photos

Summer is finally getting into full swing around here...no real schedule and really nice weather.   3 concerts in 6 days (no photography allowed).   Sweet.  Holidays.  Outings. Little bit of work here and there.  Church in the park.  And laundry....

And this funny bird.  One Sunday I was laying in my hammock, hoping that the oriole would appear....and this little guy just sat there...and sat there...checking things out.

Blockages...

I'm sure you've experienced one of these before.  Writer's block or crafter's block .  You want to come up with something brilliant and it just won't surface. It happens from time to time.
I have a project before me. I was waiting for inspiration to strike;wondering why my creativity feels like it has hit not just a rut, but a deep dry gully with no rain in the forecast.  That makes me feel restless because I know the time window is rapidly closing and I don't want to create a project that didn't receive all that I could pour into it.  What if all you have at the moment isn't enough?   What ingredients are missing?  So I open my journal and notice the last dates when I wrote down meaningful things there.   Hmmmm.  I see a pattern.
   

Busy life.   Stress.    Mountain peaks.   Valleys.   A gully or two.    And then the plateau where I find myself today.  

I surf.  I get an inkling of an idea.   I pick up my Bible.   I take out my pen.   And I open a new notebook and it just starts pouring.     Beginning to see a pattern there too.    

Right about now I'm really missing  my small group and Coffee Break group...

Note to self: Don't take  vacations from studying and making regular deep forays into the Word.  It keeps the thirst quenched, the creative juices flowing, and softens the heart.   Because it all goes south when the heart is not throne room material.  

Random Update

Summer holidays started on a great note. Joe  is in his glory.  He received his hearts desire.....a trampoline.  I overheard him saying to Ray (since I had very little to do with it...) "Thanks Dad....you just made my summer!!!"


The next day was Craig's graduation. So many great events in one week!  It was a great evening preceded by a dinner for graduates and parents and ended with a final gathering of the graduates at the nearby home of a friend.  Craig, however, had to be home early and had his wisdom teeth removed the next day.   (That was another eventful occurence of the week....time flies when you're having "fun"...) This photo is of Craig and a good friend.   They are both returning to LDCSS for a fifth year and cannot wait until the soccer season starts next Spring!   

I also love the way lunch time changes once school's out for summer.   The boys tire of sandwiches and Joe is always game to make an extra one or two of whatever he happens to be having.    Mini pizzas with fresh basil.   Does it GET any better than this?    Joe called down the stairs to say that lunch was ready.  I came upstairs and discovered this thoughtful little place setting:  Love the milk AND cookies!

And I finally got a photo of elusive oriole...looking a little drab in the hot summer sun....the perfect shot got away on a previous night.  I did get a lovely image of the feeder....and all it's empty perches.  Then the drizzle started. Of course....as soon as I put the camera away the oriole came back.   Maybe next time....

One would assume that summer would indicate a general slow down of activities yet this seems NOT to be the case.   Eventually things WILL relax their relentless pace and we'll enjoy the dog days of summer.
