I thought I would try a new template. I can't wait to go out East so I thought I would go for the Maritime look.

For All the People Who Can See Their Grass
...here are some pictures of SNOW.
I have heard some very sad statements made by people living south of the border....you know who you are. Seeing as how I am a very compassionate person, I have found it in my heart to supply you all with some pictures of how we are experiencing winter....you know....to help you remember. This first one was taken last night on my driveway...it was getting toward suppertime. I love dusk....although you can already tell that the days are getting longer. The one below was taken this afternoon just before I turned the computer on....you can see how our light is just about buried up to the cross bar, 3/4 of it's height. In our front yard is my birdbath but right now it looks like a cake stand with its nice fluffy white cake on it. :):) I like cake! This is the view from our front window.
I am having a really fun day. It actually feels like Christmas.....let me share some key details with you.... (1) I went to clean a house this morning and I had inadvertently forgotten to bring my roll of papertowels along. Cleaning without papertowels is like having to pick "wet rot" out of the potato pile without your elbow length nitrile gloves....you just can't get the job done! I shared my emergency with the gentleman of the house, who proceded to root through the papertowel cupboard. The best we could come up with was a stack of festive napkins. They were actually quite functional! They really should add that to the packaging as a selling feature. I'm sure we ALL have a quarter stack of Christmas napkins lurking in the back of a cupboard somewhere....it's January, people!!!! (2) Just look at the scenery outside!!!! and (3) I'm cooking a turkey today. Gotta love those Boxing day sales!!!! Very festive indeed!
I had a very interesting adventure yesterday. I was invited to attend the local book club meeting!! We had read "Home" by Marilynn Robinson. Interesting book with lots of big words that sent me scurrying to my dictionary regularly. I was not the only one who felt this way and it made for a tedious read for some people. Some of the attendees are very serious about their discussion and it has to be very literary, but some of us felt free to discuss our day, week and life. I decided to be daring and mention a point that I thought was quite obvious but no one had thought of that yet....maybe it wasn't "literary" enough or perhaps some people were so busy exploring deep thoughts and themes that they missed the obvious one??? I shall hav
e to search out some feedback on that. It couldn't have beenTHAT bad, since I was invited to attend next months meeting and we happen to be discussing "The Shack"...that's going to be a good one....there are two camps. You either love it or you hate it. I hope it doesn't come to fisticuffs.
Well...time for one more picture....it's one off the railing in the backyard. There's my little pup peeking out from beside the house. There is a gate there that faces the road and she hollers at the pedestrians from there. The shovelled area is our patio. If the snow keeps up, Blixie will be able to hop right over the fence!! Our neighbour has a miniature Pomeranian named, Mini. (How appropriate) The poor thing can't even get off the deck!!! She won't see Blixie til next spring at this rate. I think Blixie really likes the snow, but the cold....not so much. It has been really hard on her feet so we've been keeping her in. She limps on the minus 20 days.
So I hope you got your fix. Maybe you even prefer your grass again after seeing the abundance of winter? I am enjoying it a lot. It is a good season to be a compulsive shoveller.

I Think It's Time....
Someone commented the other day that it was time for a new post....and
I thought it might be time to show you my ankle at long last....this is what it looks like now. I had a few things to take care of before I could photograph this for ya'll.
There was also a section of first degree burns beyond the edges down the front middle of my foot which was quite sensitive for a long time.
I am back to regular duties, including shovelling snow. I've done the church by myself all week as well as our own driveway, so I'm getting my cardio workout! I'm not too sore either so I must be in some sort of shape... Craig says I have mad-skills! On snowy days they often help with the shovelling which has earned them the contested title of "best kids". Of course everyone piped up that THEY had the best kids....but anyway. At this house...THEY are.
Things are well with us. Joe is very excited to have made the school basketball team. They've been playing intramural basketball for weeks before the holidays and this week's games were also tryouts. Kevin was really annoyed to be relegated to the front seat of the bus and to be annoyed to no end by his seat mate. He doesn't EVER want to have to sit there again!! And Craig...well, he's had a trying time of it this week. ANd now everyone has their face glued to a screen somewhere in the house....including me!!
Time to go make a card, a friend's dad is in the hospital in his last hours. It brings back a lot of memories and emotions. You know just what they are going through as a family right now, all the kids live in the area so no one has to come from far away. All you can do is lift them up and prayer and that has been a big part of this day....
